We are recruiting for a Design and Technology Technician to assist our teaching staff in providing students at The Dixie Grammar School with an exceptional Design & Technology experience and ensuring high levels of achievement. This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding and enthusiastic Technician to join our successful independent selective co-educational day school in rural Leicestershire in a full time (37.5 hours per week), term time (36 weeks pa) only role. The quality of education at the Dixie has been judged as excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and all staff play their part in our supportive and vibrant community.
The successful applicant will have, amongst other skills, excellent knowledge and experience of resistant materials and or product design in an industrial or commercial environment, an understanding of health and safety standards, effective organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, pupils and parents. Previous experience of working in an educational environment would be useful but is not essential.
Key tasks will include assisting teaching staff during practical lessons, preparation of materials, ensuring hand tools and workshop machinery, including dust extraction filters, are maintained correctly, assist in developing appropriate resources/ displays for teaching and learning as well as managing stock and ordering supplies as requested.
