The School held its annual Prize Giving ceremony at the Concordia Theatre on Tuesday 14 September 2010.
The Headmaster Mr John Wood and Chairman of Governors Mr Colin Blackler welcomed Mr Mike Goodwin, Deputy Chief Constable of Leicestershire (retired) BA Hons, MBA, who addressed the audience and presented the many prizes and awards, which are presented to individuals who had been nominated for academic and sporting achievement, endeavour and general excellence.
Commenting on the evening Mr Goodwin said "What a great evening of celebration. It is not only a wonderful occasion for the prize winners and of course the proud mums and dads but also for the teachers and staff at the School and of course others who in a voluntary capacity give freely of their time to make The Dixie Grammar School such a success - as Winston Churchill once said' you make a living from what you get but you make a life by what you give' and for my part I feel both delighted and privileged to play my small role this evening in giving something back to the School and sharing in your success."
Mr Wood reviewed the School year, reflecting on the many achievements of the students, from the excellent public examination results to success in national sports competitions and all of the many activities they had been involved in throughout the year. Highlights included the official opening of the new school library, trips to Zambia, China; a sports tour to Spain and the school production of Oliver to name but a few.
Concluding the event the Headmaster said "I congratulate all our students on their achievements in and out of school and would like to thank all the staff for their support and dedication over the past year. For those Sixth Form students who are leaving the School to start the next part of their education I wish then every success and look forward to them returning to the Dixie to hear how they are getting on."
