John Wood, Dixie Grammar School Headmaster

Welcome to The Dixie Grammar School, one of the leading independent schools in Leicestershire and Warwickshire. We are proud of what we achieve here and our aim is to realise the potential of all of our students, as we prepare them for the global society of the 21st century, enabling them to grow into responsible and fulfilled adults, with the skills and confidence they will need for the future.

The provision of a first-class academic education is central to this, but we believe that there should also be a programme of extra-curricular activities that enhance and complement the academic programme to give all students the chance to find an area in which they excel. In this way they can gain a confidence that will be beneficial in many other aspects of their life.

We are especially proud of our International Links and these have been recognised nationally by the award of the prestigious British Council International School Award. As you look through this website you will see details not only of our strong links with schools in China, Germany, Hungary and most recently Zambia, but also of the wide range of internationally themed activities happening within School.

The Michael Parker Library is central to the School and all students benefit from the advice and support of our professional librarian. The Library has a considerable impact on our students and more details can be seen on its own website at The Michael Parker Library. Our pavilion and enviable quality pitches have also transformed our sporting provision and been welcomed by all in the school community.

In striving to attain our ideals we are greatly helped by the School's size, which makes it possible to pay more attention to individuals. We recognise that we can only fully achieve our aims when students, parents and staff work together in partnership. We are a true community: staff and students all know each other, and from this stems both our friendliness and an excellent discipline based on mutual respect.

The School is a member of both the Independent Schools Association (ISA) and the Forum of Independent Day Schools. Our membership of ISA provides great opportunities for our students - for example in Sport, Art, Music and Writing competitions.

Our School Newsletter, The Snow Leopard, is available to the right hand side of this page, which will give you an insight into the many activities our students are involved in. I hope you find it of interest. Please click to view.

If you would like to find out more about our School or visit with your son or daughter please contact the Registrar, Mrs Marion Lambourne.

I look forward to welcoming you soon.
