Message from the Headmaster

Welcome to The Dixie Grammar School

We provide a seamless education from Nursery through to Sixth Form, from 3 to 18 and as you explore our website you will gain a more detailed impression of what we have to offer.

We offer a broad and challenging curriculum leading to GCSEs, IGCSEs and A levels. Our students achieve excellent results; value added data tells us we add two-thirds of a grade to every GCSE exam sat, but life at The Dixie is about so much more than external exam results. Development of self esteem, moral values and leadership are central parts of the education here. Many schools advertise a focus on the individual but here at The Dixie our small class sizes, family atmosphere and expert teachers enable the rhetoric to become reality. We are a true community; staff and students know each other and from this stems an excellent discipline based on mutual respect.

We are an inclusive community and we know that our aims can only be fully realised when students, parents, staff and friends all contribute to the rich and varied provision and work in partnership.

There is not enough space here to highlight all our strengths, but we are particularly proud of two awards: in recognition of our international links we have held the prestigious British Council International award since 2007, and our provision of language teaching is such that we are the only school in Leicestershire, and one of only nine in the UK to be given the coveted 'Confucius Classroom' award this year, in recognition of our teaching of Mandarin Chinese throughout the School.

Wherever you look - Science, Maths, Music, Art - you will get a sense of the ambition of the School for its students.

Please don't take my word for the quality of the School - our recent inspection report which is available as a link from the front page is a wonderful endorsement of all we do at the Dixie. To get a full flavour of the 'Dixie Difference', as our parents call it, please do to visit us.  I look forward to welcoming you to the School and meeting you soon.
