“Pupils are clear that kindness is at the heart of the school’s expectations for them.”

Pupils looking to start at the Dixie Grammar School
Choosing a new school can be a challenging task and making the right choice is important. We would encourage all families to explore what the Dixie Grammar School has to offer, not just through our website, but also by arranging to come and visit us.
Our admissions procedure is not simply a series of pass or fail examinations. In addition to visiting the school, pupils will also usually have a taster day to get to know the other children in the year group and what it feels like to be a pupil at the Dixie. Families will meet with the Headmaster, Mr Lynn, whose children also attended the school, and through this and through your son or daughter’s last school report, we will get to know each other better. Of course, some assessment is useful, to make sure that we can place children in the most suitable classes and that they can thrive within the Dixie setting. Our next round of entrance exams will take place in school on Saturday 25 January 2025 from 9.00am – 12.00pm.
Whether you simply have some questions about life at the Dixie, are interested in arranging a tour of the school or would like to register for the entrance examinations, please just email us (registrar@dixie.org.uk) or call on 01455 292244.
Pupils currently at Dixie Grammar Junior School
Transfer to the Senior School is automatic with any pupils who wish to be considered for a scholarship to the Senior School sitting the assessments alongside new applicants in January.
Throughout the Junior School the teachers prepare the children for their move to the Grammar School at the end of Year 5. This process starts with small group meetings with Mr Lynn towards the end of the Autumn Term in Year 5. Through discussions with class teachers and the Year 6 teachers at the Senior School, we can ensure that the pupils’ ability levels will be catered for when they take up their place at the Senior School.
To help the children prepare for the Senior School they are invited to Science and PE Days and an Induction Day in the Summer Term.
