At the Dixie it is usual for Sixth Formers to follow a programme studying three A Level subjects or equivalent BTECs. We pride ourselves on treating people as individuals, however, and so some students do study a fourth A Level. In addition, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is offered to all students.
Work in the Sixth Form is certainly testing, but also very enjoyable and rewarding. You will need to be far more independent, learning to organise your own time and study. Thinking for yourself and developing your ideas are important skills that you will find essential if you are to succeed.
You are not on your own, so don’t worry. Specialised and experienced Sixth Form tutors, in addition to your subject teachers, will help you to adjust and develop the skills needed for success. Your tutor will keep a close eye on your progress and ensure that everything remains on track.
Outside the classroom, there is an enviable range of co-curricular and leadership opportunities available, including Duke of Edinburgh, our Enrichment Programme, Subject Leaders Awards , World Challenge and Prefect roles.
