Today students have been celebrating their excellent A Level results, with over a quarter of all grades being A* or A.
Mr Wood commented “Our students have worked very hard during their two years in the Sixth Form and this, coupled with the support and knowledgeable advice of their teachers, has enabled them to achieve highly.
“We are especially pleased that they have been so successful in gaining entry to their chosen university courses and we wish them well in the next stage of their studies and in their future careers.”
Special mention may be made of a number of students who achieved especially good results.
Head Girl, Emily Davis obtained A* grades in Biology, Mathematics and General Studies and an A in French. Emily will be going to Durham University to read Law.
Alice Ellard, Deputy Head Girl, is going to Newcastle University to read Modern Languages, having obtained A* grades in German and English Language and a B in French. Alice also gained an A grade in AS Level Mandarin, being the first student from The Dixie to study the language at A-Level.
Eve Gooden obtained an A* in General Studies and A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Eve is now going to Imperial College, where she will be studying Biomedical Science.
Harry Handford will be entering the University of Leeds to study Chemical and Energy Engineering. Harry obtained A grades in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and a B in General Studies.
Stefan Roy obtained an A* in Mathematics, an A in Chemistry and a B in Physics. Stefan also gained an A in AS Level Further Mathematics and he will now be going to City University London to read Actuarial Science. Chris Ryder gained an A* in Physics and A grades in Chemistry and Mathematics. Chris will now be going to the University of Nottingham to read Natural Sciences. Jamie Thomson, who is Head Boy of the School, will be going to the University of East Anglia to study Medicine. Jamie obtained A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physical Education.
