The Dixie are very proud to have hosted the inaugural High Sheriff of Leicestershire’s Public Speaking Award. John Cleveland College and the Dixie spoke for and against the proposition: ‘Freedom of speech entails unacceptable risks of encouraging extremism and censorship is therefore necessary.’ The event was judged by Gordon Arthur, High Sheriff, Jo Parkes, Governor at the Dixie and Geoff Wass, Governor of JCC/Hinckley Academy. The Dixie team of Ed Platts, Evie Kirk and Harry Lawson were victorious and we look forward to the ‘return fixture’ at JCC next year.
