Sixth Formers were given a lesson in valuable life skills during a session on cooking foruniversity students. The session was delivered by Mr Adam Bee from Wilson Vale Catering Management Ltd on Thursday 4 May during their weekly enrichment session.Students learned the value of cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients and how to save money by building astock of basic store cupboard ingredients and cooking in bulk. Mrs Margaret Mallard, Catering Manager at Dixie, helped put the session together and compiled a simple and healthy recipe booklet for each student to take away to see them through their early cooking experiences atuniversity. The session ended with a Saturday Kitchen style omelette challenge, with some surprisingly impressive performances from students clearly keen to produce tasty and healthy food for themselves.
