There was great celebration at the Dixie Grammar School this morning as our talented Year 11 opened their GCSE results – the best in a generation for the school. With a mix of numbers and letter grades, direct comparisons are not as easy as before, but grades 9, 8 and 7 are equivalent to A* and A grades and the comparison makes clear that this cohort is a vintage year group!

With over one in four of our students achieving a clean sweep of top grades there are too many to acknowledge by name. Deserving of a special mention are Imogen Banton with three A*s, five 9s and one grade 8 and Gracie Brooks with five A*s, four grade 9s and one grade 8.

**It is not possible to make a direct comparison between grades 9,8 and A*s

Grade 9 is not the same as A* – it is a new grade recognising the very highest performing students. A stunning one in six of our numerical grades were at this new gold standard – our students have been richly rewarded for their hard work and consistent application and have laid the firmest of foundations for the next two years of study.

We are delighted that so many of our students are returning to the small class sizes, leadership opportunities and expert tuition in our Sixth Form and that they will be joined by several  students starting at the Dixie in the Lower Sixth from other schools.
