German Exchange 19 – 26 September 2018This year was a special year as we celebrated 25 years of the exchange programme with the Jade Gymnasium in Jaderberg, North Germany.25 German guests spent a week at our school – 23 students and 2 teachers. One of the teachers Herr Krusch organised the first exchange trip 25 years ago, and Mrs Freytag took part in the exchange in 2004 when she was a student at the school. In addition to our usual programme of activities which include a quiz around Market Bosworth and trips to Drayton Manor and Warwick Castle, we involved the whole school in our celebrations – namely everyone in the school received a celebration cake during the week. This was a big hit! There was also German ‘street food’ on offer in the canteen one day. We also presented an assembly celebrating the last 25 years of the exchange. On the last afternoon we played the traditional Germany v England match down at the sports ground and for the first time in 10 years England won- 4-1.It was a super week and the students involved all seemed to really enjoy themselves. Feedback from the German students was really positive – many of them had a fantastic weekend with their families – visiting London or York, watching football matches or the Tigers play, going bowling or eating curry or Nandos! Several of the German students told me that they didn’t want to go home!We are hugely grateful to the parents who worked hard to provide a home and entertainment for our visitors.
