Following this year’s outstanding A level results, there were more scenes of joy and celebration this morning as Year 11 students and their families arrived at the Dixie Grammar School to collect their GCSE results.
Teachers were on hand to share in pupils’ success which, remembering that this is the year group who began Year 7 as Covid struck, has been hard earned.
With one in five of exams taken at Dixie scoring a grade 8 or 9 (the equivalent of an A** or the old A*), 40% of all exams awarded a grade 7 or above and 80% a grade 5 or above, this year’s students can be hugely proud of their collective achievements.
Following these excellent results and a very successful A level bridging course before the summer break, the Dixie looks forward to welcoming back the vast majority of its Year 11 to the Sixth Form at the start of the new year, along with a significant number of new students joining from other schools.
Statistics can never capture the individual stories behind results, however, and the Dixie is equally proud of our students who go on to pursue other plans, be they T levels at college, BTECS or apprenticeships.
Headmaster, Mr Richard Lynn, commented:
“We are so proud of the achievements of this talented cohort and very much look forward to welcoming back these students and those from other schools joining us in September. They have laid the firmest of academic foundations for future study and are ideally placed to take advantage of all that is on offer in the Sixth Form at the Dixie.”
