After reading Chemistry at Brasenose, Oxford, Andrew spent ten years working in China and Australia in a variety of manufacturing sectors including pharmaceuticals, steel mills, foundry chemicals and printing inks. The exposure to a variety of industries and cultures has provided a useful platform for his current role running the family aerospace precision-engineering business, JJ Churchill Ltd, in Market Bosworth.

From an industrial engagement perspective, Andrew is on the boards of Make UK (the Manufacturers’ Organisation) and the Design & Technology Association (championing D&T education in schools).  Presently, Andrew is a member of the Prime Minister’s Industrial, Manufacturing & Infrastructure Business Council and previously, sat on the Ministerial Advisory Group on Manufacturing and was part of the All Party Manufacturing Group.  He is currently an advisory panel member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Trade and Investment, is a Fellow of the IET and a member of their Manufacturing Policy Panel. In addition to The Dixie Grammar, he is a governor at a Derbyshire boarding school and an Enterprise Advisor at a third school.

Andrew has two children and lives in Repton where he is a district councillor for is home ward. His interests include politics, cross-country running, swimming, classical music and choral singing, cooking and scientific instruments.
