Due to the retirement of a long-serving and well-respected member of staff there is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our successful independent, selective, co-educational day school in rural Leicestershire as Head of History from September 2023. We are seeking an innovative and dynamic individual to contribute to this crucial area of school life. This full-time post would suit an experienced Head of History from either the private or state sector or a teacher of History ready to take on Head of Department responsibility.
There is a strong and long standing tradition of outstanding teaching within our History department in all year groups. We see excellent success at GCSE and A level and many of our students go on to study at elite universities and on competitive courses. History is taught as a core subject up to Year 9, extending to GCSE and A Level as options. Experience of teaching History to A Level is essential.
The quality of education at the Dixie has been judged as excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and all staff play their part in our supportive and vibrant community – not least through contribution to an extensive co-curricular programme and as part of a dynamic pastoral team.
With fantastic new facilities at the Junior School, superb GCSE and A-level results, this is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual with drive and enthusiasm.
The school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all candidates, staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this role will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks being completed and an enhanced DBS clearance.
We look forward to receiving your application for this role. Please complete the attached Dixie Application Form (please note that CV applications will not be accepted) which should be sent together with a covering letter addressed to Richard Lynn, Headmaster to gilesn@dixie.org.uk no later than midday Tuesday 14th March 2023.
Interviews will be held on Tuesday 21st March 2023. Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a self-declaration of any criminal records or information which might make them unsuitable to work with children.
