Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Head of Psychology to join our successful independent, selective, co-educational day school in rural Leicestershire from September 2022. We are seeking an inspirational and dynamic individual to further develop this new department and teach Psychology at A-Level. This full-time post (part time work may be available if preferred) would suit an experienced Psychology Teacher from either the private or state sector with a successful track record of teaching this subject at A Level.

Psychology is becoming an increasingly popular A-Level option at our school. We see excellent success at GCSE and A-level and many of our students go on to study at elite universities and on competitive courses. The quality of education at the Dixie has been judged as excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and all staff play their part in our supportive and vibrant community – not least through contribution to an extensive co-curricular programme and as part of a dynamic pastoral team.

With superb GCSE and A-level results and an ambitious strategic development plan this is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual with drive and enthusiasm.

The school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all candidates, staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this role will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks being completed and an enhanced DBS clearance.

We look forward to receiving your application for this role. Please complete the attached Dixie Application Form (please note that CV applications will not be accepted) which should be sent together with a covering letter addressed to Richard Lynn, Headmaster to gilesn@dixie.org.uk no later than midday on Friday 25 March.

Interviews will be held on Monday 4 April. Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a self-declaration of any criminal records or information which might make them unsuitable to work with children.
