Job Description

Due to the retirement of a long-serving and well-respected member of staff there is a rare and exciting opportunity for an exemplary chemistry teacher to join a successful independent, selective, co-educational day school in rural Leicestershire from September 2021.  We are seeking an innovative and dynamic individual to contribute to this crucial area of school life.  This post would suit a newly qualified teacher or a more experienced teacher of Chemistry from either the private or state sector.

There is a strong and long standing tradition of outstanding teaching within our Science department in all year groups. We see excellent success at GCSE and A level and many of our students go on to study at elite universities and on competitive courses. The ability to teach Chemistry to A Level is essential.

The quality of education at the Dixie has been judged as excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and all staff play their part in our supportive and vibrant community – not least through contribution to an extensive co-curricular programme and as part of a dynamic pastoral team. The Chemistry department run lunchtime support sessions as well as Chemistry clubs and a willingness to support and participate in these activities is essential.

With fantastic new facilities at the Junior School, superb GCSE and A-level results and an ambitious strategic development plan, which includes provision for extensive new Science facilities, this is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual with drive and enthusiasm.
