Due to the retirement of a long-serving and well-respected member of staff there is a rare and exciting opportunity for an exemplary Computer Science teacher to join a successful independent, selective, co-educational day school in rural Leicestershire from September 2021. We are seeking an innovative and dynamic individual to contribute to this crucial area of school life. This post is 0.5FTE and could suit a newly qualified teacher or a more experienced teacher of Computer Science from either the private or state sector.
There is a strong and long standing tradition of outstanding teaching within our Computer Science department in all year groups. We see excellent success at GCSE and A level and many of our students go on to study at elite universities and on competitive courses. ICT is taught as a core subject up to Year 9 and Computing Science is taught at GCSE and A Level. The ability to teach Computer Science to A Level is essential.
The quality of education at the Dixie has been judged as excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and all staff play their part in our supportive and vibrant community – not least through contribution to an extensive co-curricular programme and as part of a dynamic pastoral team. The Computer Science department run lunchtime support sessions as well as after school clubs and a willingness to support and participate in these activities is essential.
With fantastic new facilities at the Junior School, superb GCSE and A-level results and an ambitious strategic development plan, which includes provision for extensive new Science facilities, this is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual with drive and enthusiasm.
