Teacher of Physics – potentially Head of Physics (from Sep 2021)

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the well-established and high performing Science Department of the Dixie Grammar School, a successful independent, selective, co-educational day school in rural Leicestershire, as a Teacher of Physics, or potentially Head of Physics, from September 2021. We are seeking a talented, innovative and dynamic individual to contribute to this crucial area of school life. This post would suit either a newly qualified or more experienced Teacher of Physics. For a suitably experienced candidate with the appropriate skills this could be a Head of Physics appointment.

There is a strong and long standing tradition of outstanding teaching within our Science department in all year groups. We see excellent success at GCSE and A level and many of our students go on to study at elite universities and on competitive courses. The ability to teach Physics across all year groups including A Level is essential.

The quality of education at the Dixie has been judged as excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and all staff play their part in our supportive and vibrant community – not least through contribution to an extensive co-curricular programme and as part of a dynamic pastoral team. The Science department run lunchtime support sessions as well as Science clubs and a willingness to support and participate in these activities is essential.

With fantastic new facilities at the Junior School, superb GCSE and A-level results and an ambitious strategic development plan, which includes provision for extensive new Science facilities, this is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual with drive and enthusiasm.
